Dr. Indrani Gupta

Biography

Prof. Indrani Gupta headed the Health Policy Research Unit (HPRU) at the Institute of Economic Growth (IEG), Delhi, which she established in 2004, until February 2025. HPRU is among India's few centers for applied research in health economics and policy. She currently serves as co-Principal Investigator on a 5-year NIHR-UK global grant on health financing, and also leads its India component at IEG. .

Prof. Gupta holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Maryland, USA, and has worked across academia, the World Bank, and the Government of India. Her research spans demand for health care, health financing and coverage, poverty and health, costing, cost-effectiveness, and disease economics.
