Biography
Dr. Krishna Ravi Srinivas is the DPIIT IPR Chair Professor and Director, N. C. Banerjee Centre for Intellectual Property Rights Studies at NALSAR University of Law. He heads the Center of Excellence in AI and Law at NALSAR University of Law, and does teaching and research on regulation/governance of emerging technologies, particularly AI. He is Associate Faculty Fellow with Centre for Responsible AI (ceRAI), IIT-Madras. He holds a PhD from NLSIU Bangalore. He has written extensively on various topics, including, IPR related themes, governance of AI, neurotechnology, neuro-rights and legal implications, crop genome editing, and responsible research and innovation (RRI).
He was a Fulbright Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania, a Visiting Scholar at Indiana University, Bloomington; a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the South Centre, Geneva; a Visiting Faculty at IIM-B; and a Senior Fellow and Consultant at RIS, New Delhi.
Dr. Srinivas has been involved in many international research projects, including leading or co- leading projects funded by inter alia, Niti Aayog, UNESCO, FAO, DFAT (Government of Australia), European Commission, European Research Council, the Office of the Principal Scientific Advisor, and MoEFCC, and, UNEP/GEF. He is involved in international initiatives and working groups such as the OECD Biofutures Expert Group and CHOICE: the Coalition for Health AI Innovation and Working Group on Ethics. He has collaborated with UNESCO as part of a team of experts on its AI and the Rule of Law program. Additionally, he is involved with academic networks and groups focused on Technology Assessment, Responsible Research and Innovation, and Digital Sequence Information.
