Biography
Dr Rashmin Gandhi is a neuro-ophthalmologist whose work connects vision, brain health and medical technology. He is Country Director of the Davos Alzheimer’s Collaborative, Director of Foresight Worldwide, and Consultant and Director of Neuro-Ophthalmology at Centre for Sight, Hyderabad. He also serves as President of the Indian Neuro-Ophthalmology Society, Adjunct Professor at the University of Hyderabad, and Fellowship Director and Board Member of the World Headache Society.
He holds fellowships of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, and completed fellowship training in neuro-ophthalmology at Johns Hopkins University. He previously worked at Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai, contributing to clinical care, academic leadership and mobile eye surgical services.
His research investigates eye movements and pupil responses as potential biomarkers for dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. He collaborates with IIT Madras on the cellular architecture of postmortem brains, focusing on dementia and visual pathway disorders, and with IIIT Hyderabad on pupil biomarkers. His technology collaborations also include terahertz laser imaging at the University of Hyderabad.
Dr Gandhi has more than 25 years of experience in professional education and has led surgical and teaching missions across Africa and the Middle East. He has authored and co-authored books and scientific papers in neuro-ophthalmology and ophthalmic technology. His honours include the Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology Achievement Award, received in 2019. His work combines clinical practice, research and training with efforts to extend specialist eye care to underserved communities.
